Can’t thank everyone enough for coordinating or supporting our special screening tonight of “Fields of Gold” at Route 66 MotorHeads Bar & Grill, Museum & Entertainment Complex. We raised money for Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Illinois and promoted the documentary produced in partnership with Herald & Review and The Staley Museum. If you haven’t had a chance to see the film you can find it streaming on Amazon Prime!

Thank you again to Woodward Community Media Springfield for having us in their studios to talk about the Dinner & Special Screening of "Fields of Gold" this Saturday at Route 66 MotorHeads Bar & Grill, Museum & Entertainment Complex. Laura Richter with Spencer Films and Ron Metzger with Motorheads had a wonderful time chatting with John Spalding, 104.5 WFMB.
Ticket proceeds from "Fields of Gold" will be donated to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Illinois. Staff from The Staley Museum, our partner on the documentary, will also be attending, selling merchandise that benefits the museum.

American entrepreneur Augustus Eugene Staley was born in 1867 on his father's red clay farm in North Carolina. Busy with farm work, Gene dropped out of primary school at age 14, and began his career by selling his father's produce from a wagon in nearby towns..
At age 16 he left the family farm to hit the road selling food products, including bulk corn starch which he packaged under his own Cream Starch label. In 1906, after being faced with competitors who tried to cut off his supply of raw materials, Mr. Staley bought a starch plant in Decatur, Illinois.
Mr. Staley and his company made its mark on the world with a number of notable achievements, including constructing the Decatur Staley dam (now the Lake Decatur dam); introducing soybean processing; developing a nutrient for penicillin; organizing industrial sports teams that produced hall of fame athletes; and was the original owner of the football team that became the Chicago Bears.
Mr. Staley died in 1940, after seeing his son, A.E. (Gus) Staley Jr., become president of the company in 1932.
